Construction of the Water Authority’s Bosque Water Reclamation Facility (Bosque WRF) is expected to begin in November 2027. This first phase of construction is required to ultimately bring reuse water to Albuquerque’s westside for the irrigation of parks, schools, and other large outdoor water users.

This project represents an investment not only in infrastructure, but also in environmental stewardship, community education, and long-term water resource resiliency.

It addresses the need to maintain long-term flow capacity in the Water Authority’s Westside Interceptor collection system to ensure flexibility to accommodate ongoing growth on Albuquerque’s westside.

When complete, the Bosque WRF will:

• Produce high-quality treated reuse water that meets standards established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the New Mexico Environment Department.
• Support a future water reuse system for the Water Authority’s service area on the westside.
• Help protect and enhance bosque habitat through a nature-based conveyance channel that will return treated water to the Rio Grande.
